and more spirals

And here is the other finished project - my braided rug. I have to stress again that it is much much brighter than this in real life - bright batik colours. It was so much fun to do and as with the quilt, I found working with circles/spirals incredibly relaxing and soothing somehow. I have been having second thoughts about having it in the kitchen as I hate the thought of it getting stained or even used! I wince when anyone stands on it, lol! It’s currently in my main room in front of the fire, taking abuse from my cat who loves to screw it up into a ball and then cuddle up next to it……….. (wince!)

A rug for the kitchen

Here’s my latest project. I’ve always loved braided rugs but have never had the courage to have a go or a place that really needed one. I’m planning on putting down a water resistant laminate in the kitchen and I figured a rug would be nice there. I went to a big fabric sale on saturday and fell for some beautiful batiks in red/pinks, yellows and browns and decided to have a go at making a braided rug. Unfortunately I have run out of fabric! It’s currently 18" across and I want it at least 36". I’m hoping that I can buy some more of the fabrics, otherwise the outer half will have to be a contrast colour. It’s actually alot brighter coloured in real life, but hopefully the photo gives an idea as to what it looks like.
