Getting ready for winter…

I fell in love with this poncho when I saw my friend wearing it! I managed to borrow the pattern last year, but have only just managed to find some wool to knit it in. The pattern is a bit of a nightmare, I can’t figure out the tension at all, so I’m knitting an adaption of it. I have the right size needles and the proper wool but mine comes out much bigger. My tension is the same as my friends, which makes me suspect that the pattern is wonky….

I know it seems mad to be looking towards winter in August, and when we finally have some hot sunny weather at last, but I am really enjoying knitting it!

An ambitious project!

I fell in love with this design last year and really wanted to have a go at it. It’s a dressing gown by Jennie Atkinson and I love the romanticism and extravagance of it! The things that put me off were the expense and the size of it, as I have never tackled such a big knitted project before. Anyway I have been saving lots of pennies for many many months and have decided to have a go! I will be knitting the shorter version without the fishtail train as I have to be a bit practical, lol! The book does say that if you knit it up in a darker colour it is suitable for daywear. I love the idea of that but I’m not sure that I ever go anywhere where a very long lambswool/mohair jacket would be suitable?!? So I’ll see how I feel when it’s finished. I love the beautiful mauve shade of wool.

My nephew’s leggings

This blog is becoming very knitting-obsessed. Can you believe that I’m not really madly into knitting - I consider myself more of a stitcher. But hey I have to show these off, especially with such a cute photo of my nephew. I have to admit that when my sister first mentioned knitting some leggings for my youngest nephew I was slightly apprehensive (thinking of all the gruesome matinee sets I’ve seen over the years), but I think these look really cool.

Rather addictive

A friend got me into knitting these and I have to admit that they are rather addictive. They are self-patterning so you get all the glorious colours without having to do any of the work!

Little woolly hats

My mum and I got into knitting these cute little hats for the Innocent drink supergran challenge. The idea is to knit little hats for the top of Innocent drinks bottles to raise money for charity. The bottles were then sold in Sainsburys and Eat cafes and 50p from each sold went to Age Concern. These were about half of the ones we knitted. We tried to make them all different to make it more interesting!
